Saffron cookies with apple jam

When Christmas approaches at Vår Gård a fantastic aroma spreads from the bakery. Here, lots of Christmas cookies, sweets and buns are baked with Christmas spices. The classic cookie has been given a Christmas twist with saffron and apple jam. Feel free to try baking for all the good times of Christmas.

When Christmas approaches at Vår Gård a fantastic aroma spreads from the bakery. Here, lots of Christmas cookies, sweets and buns are baked with Christmas spices. The classic cookie has been given a Christmas twist with saffron and apple jam. Feel free to try baking for all the good times of Christmas.

Ingredients

40–50 cookies
200 g butter
1 dl granulated sugar
4 dl wheat flour
3/4 dl Marsan powder or
cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
saffron to taste

Do this:

Mix all ingredients into a compact dough.
Divide into 4 pieces and roll out to desired
thickness. Cool for a while. Cut into 1-2 cm wide
pieces, place on a baking sheet and let them come to room temperature
again. Press a depression in each cookie and fill
with apple jam.
Bake at 175 degrees for about 10-12 minutes.

Apple jam:

  • 500 g Ingrid Marie
  • or other red solids
  • apples (4-5 pcs)
  • 400 g granulated sugar

Do this:

Cut the apples and remove
the cores. Then cut into
smaller pieces, with the peel
still on.
Boil with the sugar for about
10-15 minutes. Then blend
the jam smooth with a blender.
Spread over the cakes when
the jam has cooled.
