Here it is easy to settle down, stay for a long time and feel at home from the first moment.
Here you eat dishes built on distinct flavors and raw materials in focus. The cuisine moves between French and Swedish – where brasserie meets archipelago – with classic dishes that are recognizable and appreciated. You will encounter fish and shellfish, butter, herbs and well-made sauces. Grilled, slow-cooked and generous desserts that evoke memories. Everything cooked with modern precision and great respect for the craft, without fuss.

If you are more than 10 people, you can choose dishes from our à la carte menu for the whole party, but a maximum of two different options of starter, main course and dessert. Perfect for celebrating a birthday or other special occasions.

Villa Skärtofta is a grand, castle-like brick villa from 1897 in Saltsjöbaden . As soon as you step inside, the house sets the tone with generous salons, high ceilings and an atmosphere that is both grand and inviting. Here, dinner can take place at its own pace. The table setting, the light and the murmur in the rooms create a lively dining room where conversations flow and the evening can develop naturally. It is dressed up but relaxed, timeless but never stiff – an environment you will be happy to return to.
The name Bernströms Matsal draws its inspiration from the origin of the house. Villa Skärtofta was originally known as the Bernströmska villan, designed by architect Gustaf Lindgren for industrialist John Bernström. What was once a private villa for dinners and socializing lives on today in the feeling and atmosphere around the tables.
We want you to feel welcome, seen and safe throughout the dinner. For us, hosting is about presence and responsiveness – being there when needed and giving space when appropriate.
We work closely together as a team and take responsibility for the whole thing around the table. With knowledge and care, we guide you through the evening, answer questions and adapt the experience to the company. Always personal, always professional.
Our ambition is simple: that you should be able to sit back, enjoy the food and company and feel in good hands – from the first to the last moment.
Directly adjacent to the dining room is the cocktail bar Tant Grön. Here you can start the evening with a well-made drink or round off the dinner in an elegant but relaxed environment. The menu includes both classic cocktails and our own interpretations, always with the same care for taste and balance.
Bernströms Matsal is open Friday and Saturday and welcomes those who want to eat well in an environment that feels both natural and special.
