Saffron cakes with apple jam

As Christmas approaches at Vår Gård , a fantastic scent spreads from the bakery. Lots of Christmas cakes, sweets and buns are baked here with Christmas spices. The classic cookie has been given a Christmas twist with saffron and apple jam. Feel free to try baking before all the good times of Christmas.

As Christmas approaches at Vår Gård , a fantastic scent spreads from the bakery. Lots of Christmas cakes, sweets and buns are baked here with Christmas spices. The classic cookie has been given a Christmas twist with saffron and apple jam. Feel free to try baking before all the good times of Christmas.

Ingredients

40–50 cookies
200 g butter
1 dl caster sugar
4 dl wheat flour
3/4 dl marsan powder or
cornstarch
1 crm baking powder
1 crm salt
saffron to taste

Do this:

Mix all ingredients into a compact dough.
Divide into 4 pieces and roll out to desired
thickness.
Cool for a while. Cut into 1-2 cm wide pieces, place on a tray and let them come to room temperature
again.
Press an indentation into each cookie and fill with applesauce.
Bake at 175 degrees for about 10-12 minutes.

Apple Jam:

  • 500 g Ingrid Marie
  • or other red fasting
  • apples (4-5 pcs)
  • 400 g caster sugar

Do this:

Split the apples and remove
the cores.
Then divide into smaller pieces, leaving the skin
on.
Cook with the sugar for about
10-15 minutes.
Then mix the jam smooth with a mixer stick.
Sprinkle on the cakes when
the jam has cooled.
