Endurance, Empathy & Solidarity

The invasion and the development of events in Ukraine are today on everyone's lips and in everyone's thoughts. The fate of Ukraine is also on the strategic table of many people and will remain so for a long time to come. It is naive to say that what is happening now does not affect you yourself. It makes it. A war always leaves its mark, in one way or another

We have all noted and seen a primordial force emerging as Ukraine as a nation has demonstrated an incredible capacity for endurance and solidarity.
As an observer, I also see a strong capacity for innovation and, not least, a driving force in the will to maintain and fight for what is closest to one, one's roots and one's autonomy. Love for one's country and one's fellow men. I was born and raised in Estonia and have been part of both perestroika and experienced a time when Estonia (and many other countries including Ukraine) regained its independence after almost 50 years of oppression under the Soviet Union. That period in my life confirms and proves that primal power can arise from a strong human longing for freedom. There was a cohesion and solidarity across borders that has rarely been seen since.

At least from the perspective of my little bubble. Vår Gård has chosen to donate 1% of all income during the month of March to UNHCR, which helps children and families in Ukraine with emergency care, accommodation, food and drinking water.

There was a cohesion and solidarity across borders that was rarely seen.

I understand Ukraine's strategy and their drive.

I understand their perseverance and their will to fight for their country. We who stand outside today have a democratic obligation to act empathetically and show humanity. It is our responsibility to contribute to hope and that by engaging through loving actions. And yes, of course it requires a lot of courage to show solidarity in this brutal and, for us in the Western world, illogical war, but it is through courage and cohesion, fighting for democracy and a healthier outlook on society, that we build strong values and a sustainable future . Therefore, I think that the best thing we can all do now to contribute is to get involved and dare to think one step further.

Engage us by showing the way to perseverance and a strong together spirit And now you think how? From words to action. We at Vår Gård talk about the importance that daily work should be balanced with healthy leisure time, where time with family and friends, fresh air and exercise are of the highest priority. We encourage our colleagues to enjoy the warming spring sun and the joy of it. We continue to lift each other up and strengthen each other in all our relationships and build trust. We show and feel gratitude for the little things, whether it's chirping birds, healthy children or time to read a book. We show appreciation to our loved ones, our colleagues and guests.

Every day.

Every child who falls asleep at night and has heard some loving words of encouragement at bedtime is strengthened by it, as are we adults when we receive appreciation from our partner or colleague. Don't underestimate appreciation! Mainly, right now we feel for those, whose existence is uncertain because they are either on the run or have their relatives and/or friends still in Ukraine. We have therefore decided to donate 1% of all our income during the month of March to UNHCR, which helps children and families in Ukraine with emergency care, accommodation, food and drinking water. Now I hope you want to do it together with us and book your spring conference, Easter stay or lovely lunch date here at Vår Gård and help contribute.
In times of uncertainty and periods where worry is constantly present in our subconscious, it is more important than ever to be empathetic and persistent.

It is now that we have the opportunity to really prove our shared responsibility and fight for a healthier social outlook that is based on strong values and a sustainable future. We do this together.

Alone is not strong! Kadi Upmark, CEO
