Albin takes home the gold

Stockholm culinary team 2018

Our young, but already successful chef Albin Petersson took home the gold with the Stockholm Culinary Team as the world's best regional team. The 2018 Culinary World Cup took place in Luxembourg from 24-28 November and is a food arts competition judged on appearance and technique. Here, over 30 countries compete in various categories for prestigious titles and the competition is high. Albin, who has only been employed at Vår Gård since 2017, is a wonderful spreader of joy among colleagues in the kitchen. Here he talks about his journey towards the WC gold:

- Training started for me in February when I was accepted as a student to this fantastic team.
After many months of practice, it was then time to head towards Luxembourg. Four days before the competition, we packed our truck with all the equipment and left. When we arrived at the hotel where we were to stay, we went through the kitchen and the room. Everything looked very good and I had a very good feeling. Then on Monday morning we started preparing and drove all day and evening. Tuesday - the day before the competition. Began to become very nervous. I was responsible for making small salad bouquets for our show dish. I started on Tuesday evening to gel all my herbs for the salad and almost immediately felt that I was a little short on time and the stress and panic came to me immediately.

I pushed hard and drove all night. Everything would be ready and packed at 03:00 and we were done a few minutes over but it went well. I felt a great relief that everything had gone well and I was satisfied with what I had accomplished. - Then part of the team went to the fair to finish our table.

We were at the fair all day and in the afternoon we found out how we were doing before the big award ceremony. Then you get gold, silver or bronze points, of course we got gold points. Nice feeling. The next day was the big award ceremony and I have never been so nervous as then. They first called out those who came third, second and then first. When we were neither second nor third, I thought "wait now, what happens now"? Then they announced us as winners - the world's best regional team! The feeling was completely indescribable and we were WORLD CHAMPIONS. So up on stage and receive medals and the big trophy. Crazy, greatest moment of my life. Then, of course, it was a party and celebration all evening. We went home tired and happy the next day. - This was my first big competition but not my last.

This spurred me on to continue competing, but now I have some Christmas leave and a well-deserved rest. I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone in the team for a fantastic trip and an experience I won't soon forget. Albin Peterson - Stockholm Culinary Team, world champion 2018!
